Hello, well to begin when my daughter was about 18 months she would grab at her diaper as if it hurt..many negitive urine test later the doctor said it was the diapers irritating her, so we potty trained her at 2 1/2. The problems continued on and off and she has had these specific (belly aches/pains, itching and burning when urinating) problems for about 2 weeks, except for the belly pains (near belly button which started in dec 2007-present time) along with a few days of burning when urinating. When the belly pains started we went to th dr many times..first it was constipation, them she was making it up for attention, than finally she said it was heartburn..but now these other symptoms have appeared and she is still neg on her urine test. my main questions is I had kidney reflux as child..I am wondering if my daughter could have this as well even with a negitive urine test?? After her meds She will be tested, but I was wondering if this is possible.Thank you

Hmmm. Well, I know nothing about kidney reflux (I would bring that concern up with your doctor), but I do have interstitial cystitis. It’s a condition where you basically have what mimics a bladder infection (urine cultures are always negative, though, as it’s not an infection): frequency, urgency, burning urination, and bladder pain/spasms. There is no cure, sadly. Also, IC often leads to vulvodynia, which is vaginal pain and itching, and/or irritable bowel syndrome.

what kind of dr. did you take her to,a regular family dr.i would
say take her to a specialist [urologist] they know more about
these things than a family dr. does.

I can only suggest looking at whether she is allergic to the material she is wearing or has she been sexually abused would explain the burning when urinating.
